Rescue Angels
I have been wandering aimlessly on the street
No home for shelter or food to eat
It has been several days since my last bread
If I don't eat soon, I may end up dead
The days are cold and the nights are long
Soon it will be hot and winter will be gone
You see, I belonged to someone who no longer wanted me
So they decided to set me free
They did not try to find me a home
They just just dropped me here and left me all alone
Now I am out here with no where to go
There are sores on my feet and the days are starting to show
I am getting scared now; I can see someone approaching in the
distance
She is speaking with such sweet insistence
"Come here little cutie, I will not hurt you"
But... I am a little hesitant; i don't know what to do
What if she takes me to the pound
Where they will surely lay me down
Now she is saying it again, but just a little softer
And...I am thinking that she wouldn't bother
To turn her car around
If she just wanted to take me to the pound
So I am walking to her, but walking very slow
She is wrapping her arms around me and her face is starting to glow
Now I know, she is an angel sent from heaven above
She rescued me today and is showing me so much love
Tonight I will sleep in a warm fuzzy bed
And everyday my tummy surely will stay fed
The rescue shelter is my home for now
But a family for me is their solemn vow
